TWAX 101: 3 Tips to up your Twax roll game

Are your joints not hitting like they use to? Do you miss that feeling when a regular joint would hit you like a truck like the good old days and need a way to supercharge your joints? Twaxing is perfect for anybody who have built up a tolerance for THC and want that intense nostalgic feeling back. Twax is defined as the process of applying hash/concentrates to the inside, outside, or tip of your rolls/bowls in any way shape or form. Cannabis extracts have also become more readily available with recent years due to legal changes so there has never been a better time to experiment with Twaxing and find yourself landing on the moon.

Although there isn’t a “standard” method on how to twax your rolls, our cannabis scientist have spent countless hours in the lab experimenting (along with many years of unofficial experimentation) with a variety of methodology and concentrates and have came up with a few helpful tips for the most optimal twax experience that will blow your mind.

Tip 1:

The Holy Trinity

We found the perfect twax should include a combination of quality flower,  Kief and Oil/distillate. The synergy of this trifecta mix gave us the best high. It all starts with a good base and we recommend only using Top shelf whole buds as it has an ideal mixture of terpenes and flavonoids that contribute to the aroma and flavour of your roll. The flower base gives a nice steady burn while the kief is added to deliver a nice euphoric punch. The type of kief you choose can have a big impact as well and we recommend using a nice golden kief. Oil is then added to bring up the potency even higher and helps the joint deliver a nice slow burn. You know you’ve rolled a sexy beast if burns evenly without canoeing and has a nice white ash. At Moonwalker we splurge on our cones and use a high ratio 2:1 flower to kief and then lather distillate in the cone with our proprietary method to give it amazing smoke.

Tip 2:

Roll your concentrates on the inside

For the love of cannabis, please roll your concentrates on the inside. There’s nothing more painful than watching good quality extracts go to twaste. When you roll your concentrates on the inside the paper acts as a chamber to lock in all your fine ingredients in the tube. Since the kief sits below the cherry, it burns at a lower temperature allowing it to vape up slowly without getting burned away unlike if you were to have the concentrate on the outside instead. When you are ready to take a pull from the joint, all the fine ingredients you paid good money for is contained and allows everything to be consumed when you inhale. We ain’t trying to be fancy, we just want results!

Tip 3:

The size of the tip does matter

Just to be clear, we are referring to the filter tip of the cone. The filter is usually an afterthought but we found in our experiments that the standard cone with the narrow filters constricts the passage of air and does not allow enough to pass through. In our preroll, we get special custom cones made with a larger diameter tip so we can have a bigger filter allowing for maximum airflow delivering a smoother smoke. We also found a spiral design works best and lets the right amount of air in for our cones. When rolling your own joints we think it’s worth experimenting through trial and error different sizes depending on the size of your roll as it can make a big difference in the overall smoke experience.

Rolling twax joints can be sticky and messy. We found using medical-grade gloves, dabbing mat and a dabbing toolkit can be helpful and make the handling of wax oil easier to deal with. You can utilize a (dish) to hold the concentrates and use a (torch) to heat up the wax to ur desired consistence. You could also heat up a shatter until the consistency allows it to be malleable.

If you would rather just get them prerolled you can grab some quality cones from our Shop. If you prefer to shop around for another brand just make sure to do some research on the quality of the ingredients they use. You want to also avoid ones that use unbleached papers because inhaling toxins is never a good time. We would also advise against twax cones that have concentrates rolled out the outside if you want the most bang for your buck. They look cool and fancy but from our experience, all the concentrates do not get smoked and a lot of the extracts get burned away.

Hopefully, this helped level up your twax game to the next level. The joint is probably the most traditional way of smoking herb there is nothing more therapeutic and thrilling than passing around a well-rolled twax joint with a group of friends. Happy smoking friends.
